overcoming functional Addictions naturally with a root-cause approach
Building Resilience to ‘bad habits’ by re-hijacking your brain and body.
For professionals who are looking for discrete 1:1 support to kick-start a new life.
Sticky Habits are a modern day epidemic - and we’re here for professionals who consider themselves a bit of a ‘functional’ addict, or who simply wishes to have more control.
Imagine if you could take it or leave it when your drug or food of choice is available? Re-gaining this control is our aim, but intervening early is important.
You landed here today for a reason. Plant that first seed of change before it gets harder.
Our Approach.
We’re not psychologists. We’re not even asking you to quit. We believe your brain has been hijacked, and we want to help you hijack it back. By re-balancing body and brain physiologically, we help you start a new life of resilience, resistance and wellbeing.
Get your pleasure from the little things again - just like you used to.
Understanding Why Addictions Develop in Busy, Stressed Professionals
Traditionally, addictions have been considered psychological conditions, but as many people with more functional ‘habits’ will know - this doesn’t always fit. Highly stimulant drugs or foods are physiologically addictive, and a huge amount of people in the UK are struggling to moderate their intake of sugar, alcohol or cocaine. It’s more than readily available, it’s socially acceptable, and quitting 100% therefore seems un-doable.
-
We call sugar the ‘entry’ drug. Interestingly, many with a cocaine addiction will report a lot of sugar eating in their childhood. For some, it stays there. In others, they move on to social or ‘party-drugs’, that become ‘crutch-drugs’.
What’s the relationship? The brain doesn’t really know the difference. We’re designed to love dopamine-hits either way.
-
Alcohol can be really sticky. Early interventions are best.
We help you shine a light on your patterns and behaviour, helping you see new joy’s in the day to day stuff.
If your alcohol pattern is seated in deep family trauma or alcoholism run’s in the family we will recommend talking therapy at the same time to optimise success.
CHANGING OUR HABITS STARTS WITH UNDERSTANDING OUR FEARS AND LIMITING BELIEFS.
-
Cocaine has become uber-ised, and is now available 24hours a day to majority of people, crushing any chance of self-discipline.
We try and help you uncover your triggers, areas of weakness and strengthen ‘the other side of that’ - meaning, enhancing life you want, not the life you’re stuck in.
-
We’re not actually fan’s of quitting! We prefer phasing out. Have you ever quit for 3 months, thought ‘this is it’, then fallen right back to where you were - at speed, when you’ve started again?
We’ve made the observation, that when we quit, rather than learning to live without it - we can accidentally reinforce it.
During quitting, if we’ve made no change to brain chemicals or challenged limiting beliefs - nothing has really changed.
The Link Between Stress and Addictive Behaviours
Whilst poor mental health, stress, trauma or neurodiversity may have made you more susceptible to a ‘repeat pattern’, the truth is, we find it hard to stop because our brains are hardwired to seek pleasure.
It is well established that a stressed brain, whether from early life trauma or physical or psychological stress makes the brain more susceptible to addictions - which makes sense when we understand the physiology involved.
As long as the perception of pleasure exists - you’ll have a hard time making change. We’re here to help you change how you view your addiction of choice with our experience in the combined Body + Mind approach.

Functional Medicine’s Root-Cause Approach to quitting
biochemical imbalances
Biochemical imbalances underlie all imbalances, and are worsened by alcohol, sugar and cocaine. We use gene tests to look at how you inherently balance your neurotransmitters (brain chemicals) to understand your underlying blue print.
gut-brain connection
We explore your underlying triggers for depression and anxiety, including investigating whether your gut is imbalanced and therefore not producing normal gut-brain happiness brain chemicals.
blood-sugar balance
Blood sugar balance and sugar cravings is a huge player in over-consumption of food, sugar and alcohol in particular. We assess your blood sugar balance via assessment, and glucose tracking & investigative lab tests if we need.
nutrition balance
Alcohol and drugs can really deplete vitamins, that in turn can make you feel really imbalanced. We will assess your diet and include lab tests if appropriate, plugging any gaps with supplements and foods.
dopamine support
Understanding the other areas in your life that trips you up is important. We assess your dopamine & lifestyle triggers in detail, so we can take a wholistic approach to setting you up for success.
boosting sense of health
The sense of health is the juxtaposition to a hangover, whether from sugar, alcohol or drugs. This is why most people tend to seek out the gym naturally. We dial this up, by making the experience really ‘ultimate’, with proper assessments, tests, and strategic plans designed for you.

Success Stories:
Real People Who Reclaimed Control of Their Health and Habits
A 46-year-old male, head of a stressful department, had slipped into a weekend cocaine habit that was affecting his confidence and marriage. Alcohol was a major trigger, but he felt unsure of whether there was actually a slight alcohol dependency underlying the situation. History of ‘quitting’ for 3-6 months in the past, giving a false sense of having things under control, but was still stuck in the habit.
We started with a deep assessment of his triggers, from his past health history, to diet and stressors. We uncovered that the habit likely formed as a means to cope with socialising confidence and connection in the late teens, and had become a lifestyle, followed by addition ever since.
Once we understood some of his triggers better, we could focus on the root of the problem in three ways.
We ‘detoxed’ from alcohol and drugs in a strategic way for 6 weeks, motivated with a health & fitness plan, followed by a very carefully planned brain ‘re-wiring’ re-introduction phase for 3 months. During the 6months, we addressed his brain chemical imbalance and underlying sugar addiction, which helped him feel like his family, friends & hobbies were enough to bring him pleasure. His goal was to be able to enjoy the odd party without falling off the wagon, and he proudly reported back after his first weekend away with friends that all had gone well!

Frequently Asked Questions.
-
We’re frankly quite annoyed over the lack of interest and solutions offered to this hugely growing population issue.
Substances and foods are highly addictive in their nature - to our brain, our nervous system and other body systems.
This is a physiological, ‘body’ response, so it makes sense to do work to help the body recover and become less prone to ‘wanting more’.
-
Deep inside, you know this is hard. You’re not an ‘addict’, you just need to ‘apply yourself’.
By now, you’re probably thinking you need to change your job, move out of London or the city - but these types of changes often bring new and different challenges.
But before you throw yourself into changing your environment - there is a way. Let’s see if we can change your internal environment, so you can keep your life. We aim to help you create the right understanding, physiology and give you the tools that you can use straight away. You need to give things time, this isn’t about a quick ‘quit’. It’s about phasing out what no longer serves you, naturally.

-
We’re not about quitting - we’re about building resilience. Without learning/restoring these foundations, there’s a risk your habits will continue to grow and become more ingrained. This is a scary thought for many of our ‘Functional Addicts’. By strengthening your foundations for better control, we have all the confidence that you will get where you want to be, even if it not right now This is about giving you skills, tools and the right brain for getting to where you want to be in the future
-
We’d recommend that you always contact your GP so that they can oversee your progress and step in if you need further support. We also refer to therapists, groups and other health professionals, and assess and consult the appropriate health professionals
